Welcoming a new little on brings joy and challenges, especially when it comes to feeding and early development. Many parents find themselves searching for support and connection during those first months. That’s why I’m excited to share news about a new support group specifically for parents of pre-crawling infants.
Starting Friday, March 6, 2026, at 1 pm, WeeHive Social in Ambler will host a free weekly purposeful play group that combines feeding support with infant play focused on development, presented by me - Meg Powers, DPT, CBS, physical therapist and certified breastfeeding specialist.

What This Support Group Offers
This parent and baby group is more than just a gathering. It’s a place where parents can find breastfeeding support, bottle feeding support, and community while their babies engage in gentle, guided gross motor play. The group focuses on infants who are not yet crawling, offering activities that encourage movement and sensory exploration in a relaxed environment. Conveniently located in the heart of Downtown Ambler, it's such a great place to come and play, then enjoy a stroll through town with a local coffee after!
Here’s what you can expect:
Feeding guidance from an experienced parent AND provider who understands the challenges of feeding a new baby, including tips for managing bottle refusal, reflux, tongue ties, and plenty of other feeding challenges.
A welcoming space to share experiences and ask questions about both breastfeeding and bottle feeding.
Structured infant play sessions that promote early development through purposeful play activities designed to strengthen muscles and coordination
Opportunities to connect with other parents in a supportive, non-judgmental setting.
Why Purposeful Play Matters for Pre-Crawling Infants
Before babies start crawling, their bodies and brains are rapidly developing. Engaging in gross motor play helps build the strength and coordination needed for milestones like rolling, sitting, and eventually crawling. This group uses purposeful play techniques to encourage these skills in a way that feels natural and fun for babies.
For example, activities might include:
Developmental positioning and handling techniques
Gentle guided movements to support muscle development
Sensory play with different textures and sounds to stimulate brain growth
Guidance on toy selection and use
These activities not only support physical development but also help babies build confidence and curiosity about their surroundings AND their own body!
Building Community and Confidence
Joining a support group like this can make a big difference for new parents. It’s common to feel isolated or overwhelmed, especially when dealing with feeding challenges or a fussy baby. This baby play group offers a chance to connect with others who understand what you’re going through in the MOST ADORABLE new space that has graced Ambler! WeeHive is clean, welcoming, and adorable.
Parents can share tips, celebrate small victories, and find reassurance in a community that values both the baby’s and the parent’s well-being. The group’s timing on Fridays at 1 pm makes it a perfect way to end the week with positive energy and support.
